Charges for Brits to Visit EU Vacation Spots to Start in 2023

The EU has confirmed that British travellers will not need to pay a fee when they travel to any of the 26 EU countries.
When Britishers voted to leave the EU in 2016, the EU was to implement a €7 charge for Brits travellers. The charges have been delayed until November 2023
All the travellers visiting Schengen countries with a UK passport will be treated the same as all other visitors from non-EU countries, according to the 2016 Brexit referendum.
Brits travellers will need to apply and pay for electronic travel authorization when they travel to any of 26 countries.
The expected visa duration will be three years. travellers will be allowed unlimited travel with this visa to EU countries once paid for.
At first, the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) was anticipated to start operating in September 2022.
The EU’s ETIAS website states, "ETIAS will be a highly automated IT system created to identify security, irregular migration, or high epidemic risks posed by visa-exempt visitors travelling to the Schengen States. At the same time, it will facilitate crossing borders for the vast majority of travellers who do not pose such risks.”
“Non-EU nationals who do not need a visa to travel to the Schengen area will have to apply for a travel authorization through the ETIAS system before the trip."
The EU says: "After filling in an online application form, the system will conduct checks against EU information systems for borders and security. And, in the vast majority of cases, it will issue a travel authorization within minutes.”
“The ETIAS travel authorization will be a mandatory pre-condition for entry to the Schengen area. It will be checked together with the travel documents by the border guards when crossing the EU border."
